| The Law Enforcement Awareness Network was founded by a group of parents within first responder professions. The organization is operated on a voluntary basis and its intent is to create a network for first responders, advocates, individuals with hidden disabilities, and families of loved ones affected to come together to provide resources and information. By doing so it is felt that many unfortunate situations that may normally occur will be avoidable. It is also our hope that this sharing between first responders, and those within the communities they serve, will provide for a better understanding of expectations as well from both populations. We have learned from experience that information is a powerful tool and that each and everyday should be a learning experience for all. That we feel is what will be the one piece that will make this project a successful one, not just the realization that there is more that we need to learn, but also the fact that we inturn need to utilize what information we obtain as well. It is also our goal to educate parents and care providers on emergency preparedness and how they can assist first responders with providing needed information during critical incidents. We feel that by being prepared, and being able to provide first responders with the information they may need via thier radio dispatchers when responding to calls or by providing the information already compiled on Child-Ident kits, will allow first responders the information they need to better provide timely and appropriate services.
